The 68-year-old director Tony Scott was a well known and appreciated figure in the movie world, being known for directing top movies like Top Gun, Unstoppable, Days of Thunder or The Taking of Pelham 123. His suicide comes as a huge surprise for everybody.
But his sudden death came Sunday when authorities answered calls from people claiming that somebody had jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island in Los Angeles Harbor. After several hours of searching, the diving team pulled out the body which proved to be that of Tony Scott.
Later on, the police found a note in the director’s car which only contained contact information, while a suicide note was reportedly found in his office.
However, the contents of the suicide note were not made public yet, which makes us all wonder about Tony Scott’s death: why did he commit suicide? Nobody seems to be able to answer this question right now.
UPDATE: Early reports suggest that Tony Scott apparently was diagnosed with brain cancer and there was nothing that could be done about it. So sad!
